Psychiatric Services

Anti-Racist

Racism and oppression impact mental, physical, and spiritual health. Embracing an anti-racist approach within psychiatry fosters an inclusive environment that acknowledges and seeks to dismantle systemic biases, empowering individuals and communities to heal and thrive.

Trauma-Informed

This is a commitment to understanding the impact that trauma has on individuals and families, working to actively avoid re-traumatization, and supporting a strengths-based approach to psychiatric care.

2SLGBTQI+ Friendly

This is a safe, affirming space for individuals of all sexual orientations and gender identities, ensuring that everyone feels valued and respected. We provide culturally competent care that celebrates the unique experiences and perspectives within the queer community.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I book an appointment?

Please have your family doctor fill out and fax the referral form. You will then be contacted by phone to book an assessment and feedback session.

What if I don't have a family doctor?

You will need to have a family doctor or nurse practitioner to get a referral and to provide you with ongoing care after your assessment. You can visit Health Care Connect if you need help finding a family doctor in your area.

How much does this cost?

All assessments and feedback sessions are fully covered by provincial health insurance (OHIP). Please ensure you have renewed your health care card. Interim Federal Health Program (IFHP) and private insurance are also accepted.

What can I expect in my psychiatric assessment?

In your first session, we will meet to discuss your mental health concerns and gather information about your medical history and background.

What can I expect in my feedback session?

In the feedback session, we will talk about the diagnoses and recommended treatment plans. This is your opportunity to ask any questions you may have!

Do you offer ongoing psychiatric care?

No, at this time we are offering two sessions only. After that, you will be cared for by your family doctor and other service providers.

What do I need for the assessment?

Assessments are virtual, so you will need a functioning camera and internet connection. Please also bring your health care card.

What if I work full time?

Flexible scheduling on evenings and weekends is available to ensure you can take the time you need to get the care you deserve.
